CSE Department hosts inaugural Research & Design Expo

Crowd engaging with student projects during expo
Attendees, ranging from academia to industry, walk through the first-floor hallway of Discovery Park to see all the projects displayed during the CSE Research & Design Expo held on April 25, 2024.

On Thursday, April 25, the UNT Department of Computer Science & Engineering hosted the first-ever Research and Design Expo which consisted of projects ranging from senior design/capstone to funded research by our various labs.

The CSE Department occupied the 1st floor of Discovery Park to showcase everything the department had to offer. This inaugural event witnessed a total of 46 capstone groups (consisting of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology), 7 Undergraduate research areas (both Thesis and UR2PhD), and 15 Graduate funded projects. Each project promoted discussion and inspiration to our attendees ranging from UNT students to partners both in academia and external industry.

Congratulations to our capstone students on making this Spring 2024 Senior Design a huge success, and all of our amazing students in making this first Research & Design Expo a huge success!

The Capstone Program in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering provides students with an opportunity to interact with industry partners to define, design, build and deploy real-world systems. The department provides a two-semester capstone experience in each of our three undergraduate major programs. These experiences integrate all of the technical knowledge and skills from their courses and internships, as well as providing valuable experience in team-building, project management, oral and written communications, and problem solving.
