UNT Engineering Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies Yan Huang has been selected to participate in Drexel University’s Executive Leadership in Academic Technology, Engineering and Science (ELATES) program. ELATES is a professional development program specifically geared for women in academic STEM fields.
The program is very selective – accepting only 22 fellows nationwide.
“Yan has been an exceptional leader for the College of Engineering. As interim dean in fall 2018, she demonstrated excellent leadership in research, education, advancement, and faculty affairs, and is a great candidate for this program,” said Hanchen Huang, dean of the College of Engineering.
As part of ELATES, Yan Huang will spend one year focusing on increasing personal and professional leadership effectiveness, leading and managing change initiatives within institutions, and using strategic finance and resource management to enhance organizational missions.
“I’m very excited to begin this journey and connect with other female STEM leaders across the country. It’s going to be a rewarding, yet challenging, experience,” she said.
